What is CONFOTUR?
Law 158-01, created in 2001, promotes tourism development in high-potential areas of the Dominican Republic. This law establishes the Tourism Development Council (CONFOTUR), responsible for applying the incentives and evaluating projects that wish to take advantage of these benefits.
The Technical Directorate of CONFOTUR, Created by Decree 372-14, it manages the technical and legal processes. Projects must submit their application through the CONFOTUR platform to obtain a Provisional or Definitive Classification, which certifies that they can receive the tax incentives of the law.
In addition, since 2014 tourism projects focused on health services and medical tourism can also benefit from these incentives.
